FAQ’s

  • Why Does ADX begin at grade 4?

That’s when the shift begins. At this stage, students begin to think more critically, reflect on their identity, and develop the cognitive, emotional, and social skills that shape how they learn and lead.

They become more self-aware, more socially engaged, and more curious about their place in the world. It’s also the stage where rigid systems often start failing them and where personalized, purposeful education becomes essential.

We focus on this phase because it’s transformational. And we’re here to meet it with care, connection, and a model that grows with the learner.

  • Will you be expanding to include Kindergarten through to grade 3?

Yes, we intend to expand to Kindergarten through Grade 3 in the future. This expansion will be thoughtfully planned to ensure the same level of personalized, high-quality education for our youngest learners. Early childhood education deserves its own thoughtful approach. Those foundational years shape how children view learning, themselves, and the world around them-we intend to honour that.

  • What is Akeela Dax’s educational approach?

ADX offers a personalized, student-centered learning experience. Our curriculum is globally integrated with Canadian roots, emphasizing real-world applications, leadership development, and flexible learning paths to meet each student's unique needs.

  • What are Flex Days, and how do they benefit students?

Flex Days are designated times when students can pursue independent projects, receive one-on-one support, or collaborate with peers. This flexibility encourages self-directed learning and helps students develop time management and critical thinking skills.

  • How are parents involved in the Akeela Dax community?

We view parents as essential partners in education. Opportunities for involvement include the Parent Café, workshops, ESL classes, and open forums for dialogue, ensuring families are engaged and supported throughout their child's educational journey.

  • What extracurricular activities are available?

Students can participate in a variety of activities that promote leadership, creativity, and community service. These programs are designed to complement academic learning and support personal growth.

  • How does Akeela Dax prepare students for post-secondary success?

Our skills-first approach equips students with critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership abilities. We provide guidance on post-secondary options and help students build portfolios that reflect their strengths and aspirations.

  • Will Akeela Dax offer the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)?

Yes, but not as of yet.

While we fully recognize the value of the OSSD, we’re choosing to build toward it intentionally rather than rushing implementation. We believe in designing high school experiences that prioritize competency development, critical thinking, and transferable skills first—and formal credentials second.

Studies show that 21st-century readiness depends more on a student’s ability to collaborate, problem-solve, and adapt than on the traditional credit-hour model alone (OECD, 2020). In fact, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) in Ontario found that students who engage in personalized, inquiry-based learning environments often outperform their peers in standardized settings—especially when supported by mentorship and real-world application.

We’re currently developing pathways that will allow students to pursue the OSSD or alternative credentialing aligned with university and college admission requirements across Canada and beyond. Our goal is to ensure that every graduate leaves with options, confidence, and purpose—whether they’re applying to post-secondary programs, launching businesses, or entering global leadership spaces.

In short: yes, the OSSD is coming. But when we offer it, it will be through a program as innovative, flexible, and learner-first as everything else we do at Akeela Dax
